We felt led to start a bible study in the fall of 1998 on the campus of the Des Moines Area Community College. God soon began to bless as students trusted in Jesus Christ as their Savior. Our home church, Saylorville Baptist, became excited over this new ministry and called Lucas to be their first ever Pastor of College Ministries in the summer of 1999.
This college ministry was unique in that the campus was only a two year school. This made for a very fast paced, dynamic, and exciting environment. The reality of having half of the students graduate and leave every year forced us to be constantly striving to make new contacts and aggressively reach out to the ever changing student population.
God used this to continually stretch us in the areas of evangelism and discipleship. We are excited to take these skills and experiences with us to Brazil as we begin our church planting ministry.
